What is art? I’m sure we could wax philosophical about that topic for hours, but how about we narrow it down a bit. Is it still art if it can’t be seen with the naked eye? I’m inclined to think so, as are artists Brad Lucher and Kyle Clements. These two have created a series of paintings that appear to be nothing more than blank canvases. To see the real art, you have to use a camera.
The reason you need a camera is because the design is fleshed out with IR LEDs, which cannot be seen by the naked eye. A CMOS or CCD sensor, on the other hand, can see them clear as day. I wonder if we’ll see more of these types of installations in the future.
