Taste of Talking Salt and Pepper Shakers – Move over Bakelite

Image

Yesterday’s design revolution is tomorrow’s kitsch, and with the Taste of Talking Salt and Pepper Shakers the circle is complete. Made from the the speaker and mic covers of old white telephones (hopefully washed) and mounted onto the indicator covers from a Morris Mini, the Taste of Talking should spice* up even the dullest dinner. Actually they’re not kitsch, I like ’em. No good on a boat though. US$22.

*Sorry but I had to say that. No really, they made me use a “spice” joke. I don’t know who, they didn’t give a name. It was them though. Really.

They resemble traditional ear and mouth pieces from the telephones of yore. Actually, they don’t merely resemble them: they really are (unused) pieces taken from real phones. And they’re mounted on the indicators of the original Morris Mini.

  • Smart idea to recycle old phones. Love 'em. May be I'll try making my own.
