The Cart Whisperer – Verisign viral video tickles

Liberty Fillmore, Cart Whisperer. Well it made me laugh.

The VeriSign campaign is aimed at highlighting the pain companies experience as they try to understand why consumers fill online shopping carts, only to abandon them before buying. In the face of an uncertain economy, online retailers are clamoring to find ways to turn shoppers into buyers. At stake are hundreds of millions of dollars in annual revenues lost to abandoned carts.

  • I’ve got your answer right here Verisign:

Dodgy, cheap-arse websites that crash at the first sign of an error in filling in the online form or Americo-centric forms that don’t let you use more than 2 letters to describe the state you live in, or don’t recognise your country or your address format or hidden freight charges that you can’t see until you get to the checkout

Read Steve Krug, do something about your useless website and then get back to us and bitch about how we never finish online transactions you whiny ****s.

  • Darn Simple Answer.

That’s how far we have to get to find out how much freight and whatever other handling fees are being charged. After filling one or more carts on separate sites, I finally know how much the total transaction will cost and then make my choice.

Just keep in mind that for every successful order, there are probably three abandoned carts on the competitors websites. I’m not looking for the cheapest price, but the one that I know will give me service for the money paid.

  • You tell ’em guys. Heck, if they paid us half the money it took to create this viral campaign, we’d give them a better and more instant answer to their question all right. :-:
