The Eco 7 – the take-anywhere folding bike

Eco 7 Bike 1

Though still a concept, the Eco 7 Folding Bike is an appealing idea for travelers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Eco 7 Bike 3

Designed by Victor Aleman in Mexico, this bike folds up to become luggage and is easy to assemble and dissemble. All of its six expandable modules – the wheels, the frame, brakes, crank, handlebars and chain – folds up. Each contains double pivots in the joints and are collapsible and removable.

Eco 7 bike 2

No word yet when it will hit the market, but this sounds like an ideal bike for city dwellers in small apartments or condos with minimal storage space.

The Wheel is composed by six modules, each one has a double pivot in the joints, this allows the wheel to fold and become smaller, the spokes are contained in the inner structure of the wheel, when you unfold the system, the spokes rotate to the center of the mechanism where it attach to the center of the wheel.

  • great idea, but very strange design…

  • It's a neat-looking design for sure, but most folding bikes fold small enough to fit in closets and car trunks anyway. Having one that fits inside a box isn't really necessary, especially since the bike doesn't seem too sturdy. My bike is a Montague DX folding bike, & it rides like a comfortable, full-sized bike. It's a bonus that it also happens to fold down to fit in the closet when I get to my apt.

  • wicked futuristic design but i don't know if i could ever fully trust the folding wheels on this bike.
