The Flamingo Earphone.

Cellpointflamingo

The Cellpoint Flamingo. The folks at Cellpoint are claiming that their new Bluetooth wireless headset with ‘patented Earclick’ is one of the lightest and most comfortable of its kind on the market. Well at 11g, it’s certainly light, and it’s got to be more comfortable than the abominable BlueSpoon I checked out a while ago (and which I never got working despite the company sending me two of the things). So maybe it’s worth a look-see?

The Flamingo’s lightweight and unique, proprietary fitting system EarClick provides maximum comfort together with an open channel to surrounding traffic noise or for face-to-face conversation. Such features mean the user can keep the Flamingo in place throughout the day – on the phone or off. In focus groups involving a wide range of people industry professionals – there was one common reaction:“After a few minutes, I forgot I was wearing it!”.

  • Too bad nobody will ever forget that it looks like a PENIS in your ear!

  • It’s amazing how everyone complains about performance, or comfort or both, and then something comes out that is a decent performer and the most comfortable BT headset I’ve ever used, and the first comment is to diss it on it’s appearance. It’s a very light, very comfortable, good performing headset; I’ve been using one for four months, and I will never go back to a motorola or plantronics. Who cares what it looks like? it’s small, and it works

  • That’s a very fair comment. I am particularly intrigued by this ear clasp thing, because it looks as though it might actually work as advertised.

  • I was just about to get the Motorola piece on the Skype site, but I’ll definitely have to look this over. It’s $20 more, but if it works better, that’s certainly what counts. However – I’ve always liked earbuds that have the things that wrap around your ears, so I’m not sure where to go on that.

  • Cool David, let us know how you get on, I’m really keen to hear about the patented earclick thingy. :-)

  • I was really unsure how well the ear click thing would work when I first saw it, but if you make sure and try all of the different sizes ( it came with about a half dozen), find the one that fits properly, you’ll like it. It’s a very light earpiece, and with the ear click properly fitted, feels VERY secure, no flopping around, not affected by movement at all. I was never able to wear a behind the ear BT headset for more than about an hour before my ear was sore, and with the Flamingo, I’ve done 5 hour car trips without any discomfort.

  • Nice feedback, I use a Jabra, or rather I don’t use a Jabra because I can never be bothered to keep it charged. This one looks interesting though. Hmm…am I repeating myself? :-)
