The Geocities Gallery – visit the internet of yore

Remember Geocities? For many, that was there first introduction to the internet but it’s been gone for a long time now. If you’re feeling nostalgic, The Geocities Gallery is compiling all those dead sites and making them functional again.

The internet was a different place in the 90s. We didn’t have timelines, if you wanted to make your own space on the net, you built a website catered to whatever your interests were. It was a much different experience but in a lot of ways more free. People made authentic connections and explored tons of things outside of themselves.

Obviously, the landscape has changed dramatically and the original Geocities went offline in 2009. Others have tried to archive the sites before but they weren’t very functional. This new project hopes to give a user friendly blast to the past for those who are interested.
