The Picture Perfect Campaign helps you get the very best out of your TV

Apparently almost half of all television buyers in the UK fail to set up their TV set properly when they get it home. They leave it on the default standard settings (either through laziness or ignorance) and by doing so they end up using more energy than necessary, make their eyes more tired and to make it worse, they spend their time watching a worse picture than if they spent a few moments doing some simple but important tweaks out of the box.

For these very reasons, the venerable AV Forums have set up a Picture Perfect Campaign to educate and help people get the most out of their television viewing. But first things first. The reason that people need to do these adjustments is because most TVs are sold with some weird default picture settings, which come from the manufacturers setting their products to display the brightest most colorful image they can in the stores for demo purposes. Needless to say, what’s good for a crowded and brightly lit shop is not necessarily best for your living room.

The campaign includes a series of very easy to follow video guides which cover the optimum settings for a wide range of the most popular televisions. There are 3 steps, covering initial default settings for picture and audio, settings for picture size and finally more fine tune settings for image accuracy. It’s a great tutorial and I learned some very cool things (like the fact that Dynamic Picture is almost always NOT the best setting for your TV) so I recommend you take a look and see for yourself.

You never know, it might radically transform your TV viewing pleasure!
