People collect all kinds of things. Toys, stamps, coins, vintage vacuum cleaners, just all sorts of STUFF. But all that stuff takes up space. Thinga.Me is an interesting experimental way to capture our collections and display them digitally.
This is a project from Microsoft Garage and lets people take photos of their collections that are converted into closely cropped images of just the things they are collecting. These can then be organized and saved as digital collections.
The idea is that a storage option like this may help people share their collections in a more concise way than just a bunch of pictures on their cell phone. Since it can be organized, collectors can keep track of what they have easily. Currently, this is only available on Apple devices and is in a trial form but if the tech takes off, we may see something like this available to the public in the future. If you have an Apple device, you can sign up for the trial.
