With smartphones doing a swell job of telling us the time, watchmakers really have to step up their game to make us want to wear a clock on our wrist. Tokyoflash has done that with what we like to consider the Iron Man of watches.
Okay, this red and gold beauty has nothing to do with Marvel Comics or the armored Avenger but the TokyoFlash Kisai RPM Gold LED Watch does make our thoughts wander in that direction.
The limited-edition version of the popular Kisai RPM Watch is a definite eye-catcher when the red time-telling lights are lit up, but the curved, smoked lens that runs around the edge of the disc makes this a stylish timepiece even when the lights are out.
While not readily apparent, telling time with the RPM is a relatively straight-forward process. The inner ring of lights displays the hour, the outer ring displays the minutes in 5-minute intervals, and the five small lights at the top of the outer circle represent single minutes so you can still be precise with your time-keeping.
For the stylish party-animals, the RPM Gold even has a cool light-up animation that sends lights spinning around the display once every 15 minutes from 6PM to midnight.
Rechargeable via your computer, one full charge will take 3.5 hours, with each charge lasting one month.
At $189, the RPM Gold probably has no danger of being the cheapest watch you’ll ever own but it might be one of the most stylish.
