Over the past few years, various states have passed laws that prohibit people from texting while driving. The reason for this is simple: If your eyes are on your phone, then they aren’t on the road. I can’t say that I’ve heard of any laws that ban texting while walking (though they may exist), but this can almost be as dangerous as driving. One wrong step into a street while you’re staring at your screen, and you could find yourself waking up in a hospital. If you’re determined to walk and text, there’s an app that might just help you stay safe in the process.
Transparent Screen is a free app for Android devices that uses the phone’s camera to turn your screen transparent. Behind whatever app you’re using, you’ll see video footage of whatever your camera is facing. In order to be effective, you’ll need to have the camera facing in front of you, rather than down at the ground. Of course, if you want to be really smart, you could just watch where you’re going.
