When the going gets tough, the tough get a Soviet Era Gas Mask. There’s no accounting for taste, is there? And let’s face it, with this puppy on your mush, you’re not likely to taste, hear, smell or see anything much of any interest anyway. $19.95. Update: they’ve got some uglier ones in stock which I’ve linked to, but if you want the same style – go here and look for ‘piggy masks’! [Thanks YetiMonk]
When the Soviets developed this gas mask for their military, spooking the enemy must have been at the heart of the design. This ghoulish, officer’s version has a built-in voice transmitter for giving orders. (The enlisted man’s version didn’t have one since they only needed to follow orders.) Filters not included.
This looks almost identical to the masks used in Half Life 2.
Uh-huh. Except the Half Life ones are not ‘sold out’. Quote from a message I’ve just received from Bettina at the Sieglers site:

Thanks everyone for looking! We only had a few left, and they all sold out overnight. Check our our website for other great, offbeat treasures :)
Once again, we really appreciate this traffic. We wish we had more gas masks…really :)

Hah, the power of the Internet.
Does anyone know what the russian model name for that mask is? Perhaps someone else has one.
Tovarich? Nah, just kidding. What about this as an alternative?
Somehow, I look at the mask and think of iPods…
Here’s the same mask but more expensive

Zen, or SW Stormtroopers?
You have got to take a look at the new ones. They are just plain scary:

I bought 2. :)
Look for “soviet pbf” masks masks. Janes says they were used by support troops. They came in black and white. I think they were in use during the 80s.
They are not an exact match for the Combine soldier’s masks, but they may have been used as art reference during the concept stage.
