UK Animals are in Danger – one in seven species faced with extinction

Animals in the UK are in trouble. Current numbers show that one in seven species are in danger of extinction and 41% are in decline. This is not great. The changes we make to our world, particularly in agriculture and climate change, is causing harm to the creatures we share the planet with.

Farming, which we need to do to live, is causing loss of habitat and life to many different species. Climate chang is also having a negative impact. In order to slow these losses down, we need to make a concentrated effort towards more friendly agriculture practices as well as the greater threat of climate change.

It is true that some species have rising numbers and this is great! But that isn’t a trend that holds true across the board. Although the loss of animals, particularly ones that maybe aren’t as exciting as large game like rhinos and lions, may not seem that exciting, they still deserve conservation efforts and a chance to survive.
