Ultrasonic Dog Barking Deterrent thinks it’s a bird house – tweet tweet…

Ultrasonicdogbarkingdeterrent

OK, so what bright spark in a suit said ‘I know, we’ll make an Ultrasonic Dog Barking Deterrent that looks like a bird house’? Because he or she clearly needs to get out and about a bit more. I mean c’mon, we’re talking about a pet control device that makes your pooch hate small red roofed accommodation devices. I smell a class action suit from the Association of Cute Kennel Makers $69.95.

When a dog barks within range of the birdhouse, it emits a harmless ultrasonic tone, inaudible to humans, that startles the animal into silence. The dog quickly associates its bark with the unpleasant sound, which conditions him to curb this undesirable behavior. An on/off switch with three sensitivity levels (15 ft., 30 ft., 50 ft.) lets you control the units effective range, and a test mode enables you to verify the device is functioning properly. Its weather proof ABS cabinet can be hung from a tree limb, mounted to a fence post, or hung on a wall.

  • Really enjoy your blog … I check it once or twice a week to find out about some cool stuff I need/want/both!!

The birdhouse dog bark deterrent is a really cool idea … that DOESN’T work. I bought one a few months ago because the neighbors were leaving their annoying large dogs unattended for days at a time. Their bored hounds were driving us CRAZY. Set it up about 20 feet from their fence, but it never even put a dent in the dogs’ barking. If anything, I think they must have been enjoying it … seemed like they barked MORE. Needless to say, I returned to my vendor with a “Sorry, it doesn’t work” explanation.

Thought you and your readers might want to save themselves $50 (US) and some time and trouble. A BB gun might work better!

  • I have a neighbor that has 7 sled dogs that all bark in a unisom way, ALL DAY LONG. I can't use a BB gun because we live next door to the chief of Police. I spent one summer calling the cops every night……..they told me to take him to court. He kept changing the date and never let it get done. So..I was doing to buy 3 of things and hang them up all around his house. Did you ever find anything that works?

  • Yours is quite a troublesome story!

  • Thank you and keep posting like this, I am more than impressed.

  • I just bought this for my neighbors two very loud constant barking dogs and it works too well. I had it up to high and one of the dogs started shaking really badly. Neither dog would eat their food. So, then I turned it to the lowest level and the one dog quit shaking and both have stopped barking. Though, they still have not associated it with barking. They won't even go to their dog houses or eat still, so I am working with my neighbor to find a happy medium. We're moving it around until we find the perfect spot so that they will still use their dog houses, eat and drink. Kind of weird dogs, but even the guy that owns them is tired of their barking, so I told him about this, bought it and we are working out the kinks. If definitely worked in my case!

    • How far away do you have it? More to the point, how far away can you have it? We live in a small community and we have neighbors that have dogs that like to bark all night. They seem to think it is ok. I was told by animal control that I couldn't do anything about it, but I don't think that I should have to put up with it. I called one neighbor, but got chewed out because she thought I called too late and she said it wasn't her dog. I am at my wit's end and just want a decent night's rest without having to take sleeping pills or wear earplug's(which don't work either). Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    • I'm still not convinced. I have a small one for indoors. Dogs were unphased. I hope his dogs didn't coincidentally come down with an illness. Shaking, not eating could be symptoms.

  • i need an industriliced model otherwise the dog is dead. pls recommend or it its is your hands. no BS.
