Use Shapecatcher to find characters and symbols by drawing them

When you need to look up information, Google is generally the place people turn to. These days you can find what you need by just typing in a few words. However, what if you’re not sure what the thing you’re looking for is called? Well if the thing you’re looking for is a letter or symbol, there’s an easy way to look it up, simply by drawing it.

Let’s say that you’re looking for a specific character that you’ve seen before. It looks like a capital ‘B’ but with a line at the bottom. You can try Googling for that, but if you just head to Shapecatcher, you can draw it crudely in the box provided. Click the “Recognize” button, and you’ll be given several choices that look similar to what you drew. At the time of writing, they currently have 10,877 characters in their database, and are constantly updating it.
