This freeware product uTorrent SpeedUp Pro is supposed to speed up your uTorrent file downloads by ‘optimizing’ your connection settings. It’s one of a range of such optimizers for different file sharing programs like Limewire, eDonkey etc, but for some reason I’m not 100% convinced.
Maybe it’s because it’s very hard to identify real speed improvements, or because there are no proper reviews from users or tech sites out there on the net yet. Or maybe it’s because the same company also makes another free product called EZBoosters, which doesn’t make sense unless there’s something a bit fishy going on? Anyway you’re welcome to take a look and make your own mind up, you never know I could be completely wrong in a paranoid android sort of way.
Making use of the internal calculators in uTorrent it provides the most favorable settings. This little add-on aims at solving one of the most critical problems in file sharing – slow file searches over the P2P network by performing accurate searches for additional download sources and optimizing internet bandwidth usage.
From the short blurb you posted here, a close read says it optimizes searches, not the connection itself. Better searches result in more download sources, which results in faster downloads (hopefully). I have no idea how (or if) it optimizes your searches, but it seems a bit less paranoia-inducing than your take on it…
I have actually been looking for something like this.
It`s a great program for downloading fast and easy all the things you want.
Useful tool. The downloads are faster. Recommended!
