Veganuary – test out veganism this month

Happy January! It’s Veganuary! A month where people try on vegan living for a little while and if they like it, stick with it for the whole entire year. Not sure where to start? Well there’s a website for that! The site has recopies and tips to get you through the month. But if you’re doing it for climate reasons, there are some things to consider.

Vegan is slightly different from vegetarian. Vegans do not use animal products at all. Not in their food, clothing, or other goods. Nothing that relies on an animals to get to the end result. Many people have taken on this lifestyle for climate reasons but it’s important to be wary that you aren’t substituting other harmful things once you remove animal products.

It’s better to stick with plant based goods rather than sub in faux materials as they tend to be heavy on plastic. Don’t treat all plant based foods as fine, look into their supply chains, eat local and pay attention to the human costs as well.
