Viridian Wood – upcycling discarded waste into beautiful hardwood flooring

Viridian tropicla hardwood flooring

Tropical hardwood isn’t as easy to come by as it used to be thanks for regulations and more sustainable forest management. Still, there’s a surprising amount of it that’s been wasted and landfilled. Viridian Wood Products discovered a steady supply of these beautiful woods and has turned them into stunning looking hardwood flooring. Their new American Classics line features reclaimed red oak, white oak, and rustic oak solid-plank hardwood flooring.

Tropical hardwood is used to stabilize heavy manufactured goods such as iron and steel when they’re shipped. This remarkable wood has typically been landfilled once it reaches its destination. That often translated as much as 30-yard roll-off dumpsters per ship of mostly four-by-fours going to the landfill, Viridian now diverts this steady supply of tropical hardwood and mills it into high-end flooring and countertop material, while recycling the comingled waste.

Versatile and elegant, who wouldn’t love to show off this exquisite wood in their home?
