Vocalyze reads your daily news to you [Daily Freeware]

I’m the type of person who loves reading books, and enjoys pouring over articles full of information. In school they described this as being a visual learner. Of course, there are plenty of people that process information better when they hear it. That’s why audio tapes, talk radio, and podcasts exist. I’m sure that the same people that use those services wouldn’t mind having a way to easily convert text from websites into audio form. If you’re one of those people, then you’re in luck.

If you’ve never noticed the listen now button on our articles before, it hangs out just under the title. By clicking this, you can have each article read to you by a rather friendly computer voice. Unfortunately, not all websites have such a feature. But with Vocalyze, you don’t need to rely on them. This software allows you to create playlists from various news sites, and have them played back at your convenience. You can even sync your Twitter account, and have your tweets read to you as they come in.

I’ve been listening to articles from The Onion for a while, using Vocalyze, and it has been a good experience thus far. The service switches between a male and female voice after a couple of posts, which keeps things from getting monotonous. I highly recommend having a robot read satirical news to you, as it’s good for a few laughs. If you want to listen to your news on the go, there are free iOS and Android apps available.

  • It is interesting to see two voice services. There is a wordpress vocalyze widget that you could install to enable the audio, too. Just like the odiogo at the top but function differently.

It made to think when you said "if you have noticed the listen button". How often is that button pressed? What could be the reason that visitors listen or not listen?
