WakaWaka Power thinks past an outlet for charging devices

There are many different kinds of charging stations that are solar powered. Some are stationary, others are portable, but it really doesn’t matter so long as it works, right? If you’re all about efficiency, then you’re going to want something that has more use than a single functionality.

The WakaWaka Power was made to power your smartphone, iPad, and other devices that are charged via USB. It was made so that you no longer have to worry about your phone dying at a crucial point in the day without having any power source nearby. It can charge up rain or shine, and is Pac-Man yellow. It has a stand, giant power button, and two super bright LEDs that are perfect for reading or writing at night. There are also LEDs to show you when it’s charging from the sun, how full its battery is, and while your device is charging. One of these will cost you around $69, and for every one that is bought, the company who makes them will be sending a WakaWaka light to Haiti.

  • Now that all the gadget sites seem to mine Kickstarter for new stuff, it would be nice if somewhere in the description it would mention that no, it's not for sale, no they aren't building them yet and so far it exists just on Kickstarter.
Not mentioning Kickstarter in a product description is like announcing a new automobile and never mentioning that it's just a concept car at this point

    • You know, I think I agree with you. We'll try and do this from now on. We are very selective about the Kickstarter projects we mention anyway, because of just this sort of problem (e.g. vaporware).

  • Hi Mike, thanks for your comments. Major difference between WakaWaka and most other Kickstarter project is that is the 2nd product succesfully being funded. We have a track record. I see what you're saying though. Kickstarter is a crowdfunding site where people pledge their support based on trust and trust only. WakaWaka has a solid track record though. Hope to see you on Kickstarter. Warm wishes,
    Camille
