Wakoopa – discover new software and games

Wakoopa

Wakoopa is certainly something new. It’s a software and games community sharing tool which looks at what you like and then starts to recommend the same kind of tools that others in the community are using. Download and install the free program and it monitors which programs you use. It also, rather scarily, uploads this information to the community server so it can be analysed, so if you’re a little worried about letting the world know you use MS Paint, maybe this isn’t for you.

Rather like Rescue Time, the software will also give you a rundown of what you use most, and the percentage share of each of your tools, which is a useful way of getting to see your work – or play – habits. It’s a very interesting concept and something that could take off, although I’m a little wary of anything that pretends to know what I like. I use MS Word a bit because of the word count, but I can’t say I prefer it as a word-processor. Anyhoo, try it out for yourself and see what you think.

Wakoopa is a social network that helps people discover the best software, games and web apps on the market. Sign-up, install a small tracker on your desktop and automatically create your online software profile that you can share with friends and the world, also through widgets. Wakoopa keeps you updated about what your contacts are using, and sends you smart recommendations. Games, audio & video players, instant messengers or office tools: Wakoopa knows what’s hot.
