WeWALK – the smart cane for the visually impaired

Most people are aware of the white cane used by blind and visually impaired people. It’s a fairly standard image and has helped an untold number of people navigate the world. Which is awesome! But like everything else, it can be smarter. WeWALK is the cane of the future.

This cane has sensors to detect obstacles that appear higher than chest level, the limits of the standard cane. It can also be paired with a smartphone for navigation purposes, it’s integrated with Google Maps. It’s not done, the company wants to add more functionality to it so over time, it will only get better.

Really amazing product but does have one draw back. It’s quite expensive. The traditional cane is well under $100. closer to $20-50. This smart version is $499.
