WiFi MicroSD Adapter – turn your humble microSD card into a wireless data superhero

Adding WiFi wireless data transmission capabilities to the humble microSD card has always seemed like an exercise in impossibility. How do you cram the necessary tech into such a small size? But now someone’s gone and done it a different way, which actually could work out brilliantly for certain tasks.

The WiFi microSD Adapter converts a standard microSD card into a wireless data monster, which you can use in your digital camera or other reader to move photos, videos and other files to your phone, tablet or laptop without needing any cables.

The key to the whole thing, of course, is finding suitable SD slots to use as the carrier, but since most DSLRs and compacts store their images on SD cards, there’s an instant host already everywhere which can be used. Bear in mind this means you can also use one of your phone’s microSD cards in your camera if you get stuck with no space, and you’ll get the instant WiFi transfer as a bonus. Bargain.

The product works with both iOS and Android products, and comes with an app for setup and transfer of the data you’re storing. The adapter will also let you connect to up to 3 devices at the same time, so you could use it to hook up a tablet, phone and laptop simultaneously, which could be useful if you want to share data instantly with a bunch of people in the area. Say on a photo or video shoot (although we’re thinking the data transfer rates for video could be quite sluggish).

It’s a cool little tool, which probably has more applications than we’re aware of, and it’s available now for $24.
