Wilcraft – amphibious ice fishing and hunting vehicle

Image

Apparently amphibious cars are here, I must have been looking the other way. The Wilcraft, or Water-Ice-Land-Craft is an amphibious vehicle designed for ice fishing and to get you into those hard to reach hunting spots. It’s extremely light, has a ground pressure equivalent to a person walking and it can float, so it’s great for crossing those pesky frozen lakes and rivers.

It can carry about 250 kg and has 11″ of ground clearance. It’s powered by a 305 cc engine, goes 20 miles on a gallon of fuel, has a 2 speed gearbox, a locking diff, hydraulic discs, electric and pull start AND it can do 20 mph on the flat. Onboard there are 3 ice fishing holes, a place to stash your auger and a cover to keep you warm while you’re out there on the ice fishing. Prices start at US$10,495 and there are options galore, including caterpillar tracks, a collection of hunting blinds and transport trailers.

IT FLOATS. A long wheel base, wide footprint and a top speed of 20 mph makes for a safe and stable ride. This wide stance results in only 1.811 lbs/in2 of ground pressure requiring ice of only walkable thickness. In the event of unexpected thin ice, the Wilcraft floats and is easy to extract. Get there and get back!

  • Yes… how to take a cheap and easy sport, ice fishing, expensive and noisy by adding another gasoline powered device that is unusable for any other purpose.
