Bosco’s Screen Share – free computer screen sharing for all

Boscosscreenshare2

Bosco’s Screen Share is a free cross platform screen sharing program which lets you access remote computer screens on your own computer. It’s been designed to take the hassle out of VPN setups, which will be happy news to anyone who’s ever tussled with setting up a network using one of the common tools like OpenVPN. Mac and PC supported and definitely one for the bookmark bucket.

In the room upstairs or half a world away… If you can dial a phone, you can share screens with Bosco’s Screen Share. Sometimes, showing is a lot easier than telling. Or just doing it yourself is even faster! With Bosco’s Screen Share, you can drive your friend’s computer from afar.

  • Um…
1.) "cross platform" only to Mac and Windows, no Linux or BSD support.
2.) No mention of security or encryption.
3.) VNC is Free Software (that is open source), while this is only FreeWare.
4.) Most Windows users use Go2MyPC or remote desktop
5.) X Forwarding and OpenSSH work for my needs, and should work for a lot of Mac setups with the installation of X11 for OSX which is shipped on the Extras disk. It's installed and setup (client at least) on most Linux, Unix or BSD distros. It uses SSL, and while it doesn't share the desktop, I consider that a good thing because multipule users can be launching different GUI programs at the same time. The applications open as their own window client side. Who would have thought it? (just don't close the window running SSH or you will kill all remote apps with it.
