Sing after us…”oh the web is a beautiful place, yes it is”. OK that’s enough. Now cast your mind back to the last time you tried to help someone who’s not Net savvy to find a website. Was it a pain? Did you struggle to get them to write down or remember the URL? Did they stumble over the last /bit? Well we’ve got something for you.
Zigg.be is a brand new online link shortening service…no wait, come back…which is a bit different. It’s different because the goal of the site is to deliver short, easy to say and easy to type web links, instead of nightmare things like:
Ah yes, it makes sense now doesn’t it? Now there are a ton of link shorteners around, from tinyurl.com onwards, but what’s cool about Zigg.be is it really does create easy links.
For instance that horrible Amazon link turned into zigg.be/plain, which is a delight to remember isn’t it? The only downside to all this ease of use is the fact that the links expire, the most you get is 7 days (so they can re-use them we guess), which means they’re no good to use in long term content like this blog post. Ooops (sorry if you tried it after 7 days amigo…whoa, that’s some time travel going on right there).
Anyway, you can choose between 10 minutes and 7 days, which should be plenty long enough for gran to find her new shoe supplier, and because they’re easy to type you can use them perfectly in SMS messages, which is very cool. Bookmarked.
