The ZipShot is an ultra lightweight travelling and walking tripod. It weighs about 300g (11 oz), is 112cm (4′) tall, has a metal ball head and it will disappear into almost any bag. It sets up in seconds, about 6 of them in fact, and Tamrac claim it can support up to 1.3kg (3lbs).
Sure it’s neat and small and all but I’ve set up a few tents in my time and while the flexible, flipout poles are great at keeping the tent off your face while you’re sleeping I can’t see how they make good tripod legs. Especially for video cameras which need ultra stability. Still it’s portable and the most useful gear is the stuff you have with you. Though watching the video of the ZipShot unfurling reminds me of War of the Worlds for some reason. 49
