Zoom, zoom.

The new Olympus C-760 Ultra Zoom has a big zoom. 10x big. That’s equivalent to 42 – 420mm. Really big. Apart from that it features 3.2 megapixels and other stuff. And did I mention the looong zoom? Priced at 349.00 and available from Jessops next month.

I played around with my father-in-law’s brand new Canon EOS 300D digital SLR camera at Xmas, and boy was it fantastic! Superb resolution, excellent standard lens, stunning flash, macro and portrait results. Makes my little Exilim out for what it is, a happy snapper rag. Don’t get me wrong, I still love the Exilim for its brilliant combination of convenience and features, but I now realise that there are really cool digital cameras out there that can take fantastic photos outside or in, and without the hassles of dodgy flash exposures, lens warp etc.

It’s going to be fascinating when the technology gets to the stage where very high image quality and body-size/feature-set merge into one device at the right price. Just a matter of time, peeps.
