Zunion – Does an Air Purifier Actually Work? [REVIEW]

The name sounds like something from Star Trek, but Zunion is actually a cool little air purifier you can use in your room, office and even your car!

The Zunion Air Purifier was more than 500% funded on Kickstarter and we got a chance to get our hands on an early version. I have to note that we got the IA200 – 300W, while the Kickstarter model is the IA250 – 350W. The difference is that the Kickstarter model supports wireless charging, has a bigger fan and releases more anions (what’re those? – I’ll explain later). It does the same job though: Cleaning your air!

There are three buttons on the Zunion. The first one is the fan which has three options: stand-by (just release of anions), medium fan speed, and hard fan speed. It does not produce a lot of sound, however it is noticeable when you are in bed. One neat thing about the fan is that it turns off when the room gets dark and turns on when the light comes back.

Second button in the middle is the power button. This has two main functions, powering on and powering off the device.

Third button is the Smart USB. On the back of the Zunion, next to the power cable, there’s a USB input. My version doesn’t support wireless charging, but I can charge my phone with this. I only have to connect the cable and click the Smart USB button. Multi-functional Air Purifier!

But how does it actually work + DOES it work?

Well, I’m going to try to explain it in short. On the picture above you can see holes on the bottom. That’s where the ‘bad’ air comes in. The small holes you see on the sides of the Zunion is where the ‘clean’ air comes out. It also releases anions, which take dust particles from air and pull them down, so you don’t breath them in. Still with me?

Okay, but does it work? Well, I have been sleeping with it and must say I got a very ‘cozy’ feeling when I woke up. I used to have a little suffocating feeling, like there was not a lot of air, but with the Zunion it got better. Or maybe it’s my mind tricking me into believing it is better? Anyway, I’ve been using it for a week and I’m going to keep using it. If it can’t harm you, why not use it? Plus I can use it as a charger.

It’s easy to setup. Just plug it in, power on, and turn the fan on. When the lights go out, it goes into auto sleep after eight seconds. When the lights turn on, it wakes itself up and starts cleaning air again.

The filter lasts up to six months with daily use and it is replaceable. The Zunion was on Kickstarter, but it’s not clear yet if it will be available again soon.
