Does it suck or rock? – answers on a website

Sucks/Rocks is a clever little site that searches for positive and negative comments about a subject and collates them in a searchable form. Will it win any awards? Maybe not, but it’s a pretty fun way to waste a few Friday moments.  When you enter a search term, sucks/rocks searches the web for several positive and negative phrases using that term. The score is the fraction of positive results to the sum of positive and negative results, normalized to 10….

Aircraft cockpits in flight – cool photos

Aircraft Cockpits in Flight. What is it about an aircraft cockpit that is so appealing? Is it all the knobs and buttons? Or the fact that pulling the wrong lever can doom you to a world of hurt? As Douglas Adams once said, ‘the knack of flying is learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.’ Marvellous. Check out also these wonderful images taken by an anonymous Russian commercial pilot. Tags: aircraft+cockpits, flying+photos

MapMsg – send someone a Google map message

MapMsg. Clever Google Maps mashup which lets you send a message via a location of your choice. The tech looks pretty cool, and the idea is pretty nifty, so check it out and make someone happy.  “Reliable, proven technology” Signalling using land marks is an ancient form of communication. Compare this to e-mail, hardly available for half a century and already collapsing by spam. “Unique and personal” Forget about boring e-cards with flashy animations. Instead, send a unique satellite-visible message,…

LaserSquash – and not a shark in sight

LaserSquash. OK, so we may not have Holodecks yet, but this stuff is certainly 21st century all right. The idea is that players aim to hit beams of laser light to score points. Apparently you have to feel the force, Luke, and pay one BILLION dollars per game. What? Sorry wrong movies. The videos don’t look too awe inspiring though, I have to say.  With this new innovative and spectacular laser game light beams are shot in different directions randomly….

TenHunt – online scavenger hunt

TenHunt is an online scavenger hunt. You sign up, get questions and clues, visit websites, grab answers and if you’re quicker than everyone else, you win prizes. It’s a naked website marketing/promotion play, but hey, it’s fun and you could even win a Nintendo, iPod etc.  At the official start time of a particular TenHunt, all players will be able to start that TenHunt by logging into the player’s backend. You will be greeted with the first question out of 10. That question…

Don’t Point the Finger – truth or dare with a twist

Don’t Point The Finger is a weird game where the centrepiece is an animated hand that randomly points at a player to trigger a turn. Instead of good old dice, see? Fascinating. £14.95.  Don’t Point the Finger comes with a fully animated green monster’s hand that walks around in a circle, eventually stopping to point at someone in your party. It’s that person who will have to make the well-known choice. Truth, or Dare? You only need a minimum of two…

Scribble – fabulous free game

Scribble. If you *really* really want to waste a huge chunk of your life you’ll lock the doors, turn down the lights and play this free MiniClip Flash game immediately (you might want to turn off the music if you’re in the office). It’s an utterly utterly addictive cross between Lemmings and Line Rider, and you may never find time to eat again. I apologise for introducing this to you all, honestly.
