20 Real World Uses for Google Wave – just in case you were wondering…

20 Real World Uses for Google Wave. Just in case you were wondering what to do with this puzzling and yet interesting new tech.

If you’re not entirely familiar with what Google Wave is all about, we should let you know that it’s essentially a “hosted email” service, in which you can send messages to other users in real time. You can also have a large number of individuals included in the Wave with you, as well as install add-ons with additional features.

  • I think that Google Wave has been pretty clear from the start, especially from a development standpoint. It's all about business collaboration, working across borders, extending the office.

Many developers have essentially been using the idea of wave for years now (myself included) but have been using various other tools to accomplish the job. I.M., Skype, Whieboarding, VPNs, Online Project Tracking… "ok… refresh the browser, I just uploaded the last set of files via http://ftp…"

Wave is essentially integrating a lot of these tools into a single environment. It is the missing piece that's needed to effectively penetrate into the business world.

    It's developer-friendly, business-oriented, one-big-happy-family on the cloud vision.

End users are not going to notice a difference except that a lot of tools they already use are going to be speaking to eachother. If not properly implemented… privacy concerns are going to be a major stumbling block. Security is going to be the other…

  • Yep agreed.
