The EZ-EG electronic guitar from Yamaha is a midi enabled guitar tutor which teaches strumming, chord training and finger picking. It doesn’t use normal strings but instead relies on thick wires and lighted frets which guide the user in what to play and how. The $299.00 doozy also has its own inbuilt speaker. More here. Strangely named X-traFun Inc has developed a $49.00 Bluetooth wireless Gameboy cartridge which can be used with any Bluetooth enabled phone or PDA to give the Gameboy Internet capabilities. Quite why you’d want to surf on your Gameboy is beyond me, but hey diff’rent strokes! The cartridge also includes the Web browser. [via slashdot]

The Spamhaus Project. ‘Spamhaus tracks the Internet’s worst Spammers, known Spam Gangs and Spam Support Services, and works with ISPs and Law Enforcement Agencies to identify and remove persistent spammers from the Internet.’ Spam afflicted peeps should also check out the ‘Why am I getting all this Spam?’ site, which looks into the ways we can get trapped into a spam deluge, and tips on how to avoid it.

MyHTPC is a free front end menuing system for folks using PCs as their entertainment centre. It allows you to create large text menus which are apparently ideal for television sets. ‘Although myHTPC is targeted at Home Theater Personal Computer users, it can serve many purposes. For example, it can be used to build a simple menu for children to access their programs.’

Aunty reports that a badger has run amock in South East England and injured 5 people. Five people? Just what is going on here? The classic sentence has to be this surreal Austin Power’s type quote (remember the steamroller scene?): ‘”My husband opened the door and the badger sat there and then, gradually, just slowly walked towards him and attacked him.’ Erm…paralysed with terror were we, dude?

Menuet is a complete operating system which fits onto a floppy disk. It’s a GPL licensed project, and includes an MP3 player and Web server, but curiously only attaches to the Internet via a network at the moment. They’re planning on releasing full Internet support soon though, I believe.
