Bunking off with honours

Don’s Boss Page is a site devoted to helping you bunk off work without getting caught. OK, so it’s very much tongue in cheek (thank goodness, eh?) as can be seen from this free selection of audio sounds to fool your boss.

EZ as ABC

The EZ-EG electronic guitar from Yamaha is a midi enabled guitar tutor which teaches strumming, chord training and finger picking. It doesn’t use normal strings but instead relies on thick wires and lighted frets which guide the user in what to play and how. The $299.00 doozy also has its own inbuilt speaker. More here. [via gizmodo] ‘Er..and what’s wrong with thrashing around with a 20.00 second hand Spanish guitar, eh? That’s how I learned to play. Sheesh!

Gameboy with Bluetooth

Strangely named X-traFun Inc has developed a $49.00 Bluetooth wireless Gameboy cartridge which can be used with any Bluetooth enabled phone or PDA to give the Gameboy Internet capabilities. Quite why you’d want to surf on your Gameboy is beyond me, but hey diff’rent strokes! The cartridge also includes the Web browser. [via slashdot]

I know that the Ferret has reported exhaustively on the ultimate geek chair before, but is this really a contender? The PCE Chair looks more like a rollcage, don’t it? [via slashdot]

N-Gage

Apparently the new Nokia N-Gage handheld phone/games console combo has had a less than stellar reception at E3 this week. [via gizmodo] The Ferret wouldn’t normally report on this sort of terribly subjective opinion piece (liar!) but in this case we have to agree. I went to the London launch a few months back and afterwards chatted to some fellow journos who were also less than impressed with the business case and specifications. Dear Nokia Finnish folk – it’s a…

TV friendly menuing system

MyHTPC is a free front end menuing system for folks using PCs as their entertainment centre. It allows you to create large text menus which are apparently ideal for television sets. ‘Although myHTPC is targeted at Home Theater Personal Computer users, it can serve many purposes. For example, it can be used to build a simple menu for children to access their programs.’

On being badgered

Aunty reports that a badger has run amock in South East England and injured 5 people. Five people? Just what is going on here? The classic sentence has to be this surreal Austin Power’s type quote (remember the steamroller scene?): ‘”My husband opened the door and the badger sat there and then, gradually, just slowly walked towards him and attacked him.’ Erm…paralysed with terror were we, dude?

Small windows

Menuet is a complete operating system which fits onto a floppy disk. It’s a GPL licensed project, and includes an MP3 player and Web server, but curiously only attaches to the Internet via a network at the moment. They’re planning on releasing full Internet support soon though, I believe.
