Nap happy?

Metronaps. ‘Do More with Your Day’. I might find it somewhat tricky to nod off if I was paying $14.00 a nap or $65.00 a month membership. ‘MetroNaps operates mid-day rest facilities – places to power nap. Using the MetroNaps method, you’ll be recharged and refreshed in just 20 minutes. Recharge your batteries today by visiting MetroNaps…’

Chitty chatty chums.

The new Chatango web service provides instant free anonymous text chat via nothing more than a link and a web page. It’s like Topica but for 1 to 1 chat rather than discussions. Very nice app! ‘Chatango is a new way to make contact with people online. It’s the first tool for real-time, private, disposable, one-to-one communication. It works just like one of those IM products, but doesn’t require a download, and is accessible from any computer!’

Linux lovey.

Good news that Xandros has released an ‘Open Circulation Edition‘ version of its Linux OS for free download (interestingly via BitTorrent). I suspect that Xandros is the Linux Version Most Likely To Tempt Windows Users in 2004. It looks great, installs in a trice, works with just about all hardware and really ‘feels’ like a consumer friendly O/S. ‘The Open Circulation Edition is a limited version of Xandros Desktop OS that can be download [sic] at no charge and freely…

Hot to trot.

L’espion XS. 79.99. You realise that life is becoming a little surreal when a consumer grade cheapo digicam comes standard with automatic body heat sensing Infrared triggering technology. Just how many covert shots of dad staggering through the door legless at dawn do we need, m’lud? ‘The only camera in the world with Body heat sensor to trigger photograph [sic] (Infra Red Technology). Takes an image whenever the camera detects body heat up to 5 metres…Takes timed photo sequence –…

Watch out.

Wrist Watch Digital Camera. I don’t care how many dishy dollies they draft in to model this puppy, there’s no way I’m going to believe that it produces anything near useable photo quality unless I see it with me own peepers. Especially at $447.00 a pop. And guys, who needs a webcam on their wrist, for goodness sake? Sheesh! ‘Just tilt your wrist, flip up the site and click the perfect shot. No more missed opportunities. 8 Meg memory allows…

Chip stick madness.

Look, I know we’ve all been there, with the anger and the pain and the blind fervent hate. But think about it, what kind of example are you setting the kids if you succumb to a petty bout of Computer Voodoo? Not a very good one, I can tell you! $6.95. ‘You’ve tried logic, common sense and tech support. Now it’s time to relate to your computer on its own terms: magic and voodoo. This 5-1/2″ tall Voodoo doll comes…

Haagen glass!

I am so, like, fed up with scratches messing up the, like, totally beautiful plastic LCD fascia on my mobile phone. So I do hope very much that this Ice Creme stuff works as well as they say it does. From $19.95. ‘Ice Creme allows you to expertly remove the scuffing, scratching and abrasion which tends to occur on highly polished acrylic panels, like those used in several consumer devices and popular computers. Products like the iPod, iBook, PDAs and…

TextAlyser. So, so cool. The Ferret has a Gunning-Fog readability index of 5.2 (where 6 is easy). Integrated Integra.

The Net-Tune audio distribution system. Take one 80GB, USB and Ethernet enabled Integra NAS 2.3 audio server, add on a few Ethernet connect NAC 2.3 Receivers and voil, a home music network set-up for your CDs, MP3s and Internet radio stuff. You can also plug in things like 7.1 home theater decoders as needed. The lack of wireless support is strange, though. ‘Once stored, multiple users on your network will be able to access the complete collection of music from…

ZZZzzzzzz….

Researchers down under are working on LED based ‘insomnia glasses’ which use different coloured light sources to reset the individual’s body’s clock. They hope that the glasses will also eventually help treat jet lag and winter depression, and are currently looking for commercial partners to continue development. ‘We have fully evaluated devices with light emitting diodes (LEDs) mounted on spectacle glasses for their body clock re-setting capacity. The glasses mounted LEDs provide light stimulation of equivalent intensity to light boxes…
