Kind of like a teleprompter for guitarists. It has 4GB of memory, a speaker and headphone port and connects up to a PC via USB.   You can buy songs from their store to load up, priced at $0.44 cents each, and if you need to…

Miniature race cars have been around pratically forever, but the Renewable Energy Racer Set goes beyond the norm. Each of these mini-racers is powered by a different renewable energy – one by a mini-wind turbine, one by a small solar panel and the thrid by a hydrogen fuel cell. DigiSigner – freeware provides digital security signatures for PDF docs

DigiSigner is a freeware program which lets you embed validated digital signatures into standard PDF documents. It’s Java based, and you’ll need access to some legitimate key technology such as a smartcard dongle or Windows key store certificate in order to make it properly pukka. Of course the really important people like banks and lawyers won’t accept it, but when have the Luddites ever got on board with nascent technology without a fight?   PDF signing using certificates DigiSigner uses…

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 gets Android 2.1 upgrade…for some…

So the rollout of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 update to Android 2.1 has finally started in earnest. I just upgraded and it’s transformed the handset…from a rather pedestrian phone to a very classy piece of equipment which holds its own against anything else in the world. Yes I know it sounds strange that a simple upgrade can deliver a completely new phone, but in this case it really has. The old X10 suffered from a bloated, awkward user interface that…

What is a music track worth?

Help me out here, a little confused. I’ve just read that Jammie Thomas is currently liable to pay the record labels $1.5 million for illegally sharing 24 songs, which seems to value each track at an astonishing $62,500. But hold on. Over here on this site I read with amazement that the major insurance companies are valuing the average music *collection* at a mere £85.00, and only 10% of insurers will offer cover for downloaded music collections over £2000 in…

Toshiba Folio 100 – tablet from Japan settles upset stomach

The Toshiba Folio 100 is the latest entrant to the nascent computer tablet market in Europe from the Japanese giant. What makes it worth reporting is the comprehensive spec. Capacitive 10 inch touchscreen, Android 2.2, Bluetooth, WiFi and 3G (in certain countries), HDMI out, USB, SD card and a 1.3 megapixel webcam. But the interesting part is the 7 hours battery life claim, which if true could be a best of breed result. Priced at around £320 for the base…

Wheego LiFe – the expensive little electric car

This Wheego Whip LiFe electric car is pretty conventional as EVs go, with a top speed of around 65mph and a range of 100 miles, but where it does stand out is in price. This 2 seater SmartCar clone is being sold at a staggering $33,000 before rebates, which is around the same as the impressive Nissan Leaf which seats five and has a heftier spec. Strange marketing.  Wheego wants to make the best electric cars in the world and educate everyone…
