Nextdoor – the private social network for your neighborhood

I’ve long held a belief that there are two types of online social service; those that offer genuine value over the long term, and those that are fashionable. That’s not to say you can’t have both in one, but over time we’ve seen a bunch of fashionable services such as Friendster, Digg and MySpace lose their appeal, while really valuable sites like LinkedIn continue to march ever onwards and upwards in terms of popularity and importance.

Tech Cleaning Throw is the ultimate lounging accessory

We all like to sit cuddled up with our tablet or phone to read through our normal sites. However, when you’ve been at it for about an hour or so, your screen starts to get smudged up with fingerprints. Using a screen cleaning cloth would be ideal, but it normally gets stuffed in a desk drawer and your shirt is used instead, merely smearing around what was already on the screen rather than cleaning it off.

Who doesn’t need an Aston Martin baby stroller?

There are some high priced items that are on our “dream list” of things we want to own. This usually includes things like houses and cars, but you never know when someone is going to want something that is off the wall. Most of the time these purchases can at least be justified by the amount of use you’ll get out of them over time, but if you have enough money, why not toss it at a pricey item that…

Can you decipher the Kisai X?

It’s hard to bring anything original into office wear. You don the same ole suit and tie like many have done before you. While there’s nothing wrong with a looking nice at work, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t stand out in your own way. The easiest things to go a little “out there” with are your watch and your tie.

Phiaton PS 20 NC Active Noise Canceling Earphones – excellent sound quality and…what, what did you say? [Review]

There are times in life that you need to have the ability to escape from your surroundings. This is especially true if/when you are doing 20-30 years of prison time in an Elbonian mud dungeon. Escaping is also valuable when you’re trapped for 14 hours on an international flight between Washington DC to Dubai surrounded by five screaming infants. Personally I’d probably select the 20 year stretch in the dungeon over 14 hours of screaming infants, but then again I…

LibreOffice 4.0 is now available, so why on earth are you still using Microsoft Office? [Freeware]

I’m absolutely astounded by the number of people who still insist on spending large sums of money to buy or upgrade the Microsoft Office suite for their computer. Why are you doing this? Sure, if you’re hamstrung by a stupid I.T. department or you work for a prehistoric government body, then you have no option, but the rest of you? Really? Srsly?

Luci Inflatable Solar Lantern will light up the night

When everything you need is on your back, you don’t want to be carrying around excess weight. One package of batteries for a flashlight or lantern can quickly become “the straw that broke the camel’s back”, so to speak. If you are toting around solar powered gizmos, then you’re going to want something that is compact, lightweight, and can withstand a little weather.

Trongs have found a way to defeat messy finger food

Some finger foods you can pick up and eat without leaving some of it behind on your fingers, like sandwiches. Then there are things like ribs, wings, Cheetos, and more that will always leave a layer or cheese dust, grease, or sauce behind no matter how hard you try. I’m one of those people who eats ribs with a fork and knife (I know, I know, it’s blasphemy), but I always wished there was a way to be a little…

Pro Controller U – Out with the new and in with the old!

There are some people who have more than one console sitting around their house, but mainly stick their favorite. If you happen to prefer your Xbox 360, but want to play on your Wii, your fingers might get a little confused as to button placement at the first. While you can and will get past that, you might prefer your Xbox controller over the Wiimote.
