Announcing the Hubski Comments WordPress Plugin – a cool way to bring the thoughtful web to your blog [Freeware]

We reviewed the rather fine Hubski.com social community a while back, and if you remember we were rather impressed by the quality of the interaction and content of this new online community. Kind of like Reddit without the LOLCATS. Well it appears we liked the site too much, because no sooner had we finished writing about it, than we found ourselves at the center of some sort of plot to destabilize civilization.

Price Geek – instantly find out what the market price is for your stuff with this cool site

Scientists create world’s thinnest sheet of glass at only two atoms thick, insurance companies fret

Scientists at Cornwell University have managed to create the world’s thinnest sheet of glass, but don’t expect it to feature in your smartphone any time soon. Heck, if and when it does, you might never know, because it would play a role behind the scenes where your eyes can’t see. From what we understand, this sheet of ‘graphene glass‘ measures two atoms thick, so you wouldn’t want to drop it, nor would you want to drop anything on it, yourself…

The energy efficient Energy Box home

Having buildings and homes that can hold up to the ever increasing intense weather and geological events around the world is becoming more crucial. One architect’s answer to this is the Energy Box. Built as a replacement to a family’s home after the April 2009 earthquake that struck L’Aquila, Italy, this three floor structure is 3,230 sq ft (300 sq meters) and features a living room, three bedrooms, a bathroom, a multi-functional room, and a garage. This not-quite-off-the-grid home incorporates…

Zeus – the world’s first all in one 3D printer, copier, scanner

3D printers are definitely not as easy to use as they seem. In fact, if you don’t know how to design something in 3D, chances are you won’t be able to print it with your “shiny” new 3D printer. However the folks over at AIO Robotics may have produced something which will change the way you look at 3D printing. Their upcoming innovation is called Zeus – an all in one 3D printer, copier and scanner which is nothing short…

ZOOM H6 Handy Recorder – the ultra flexible portable recording studio

Nowadays everyone owns a video recording device, a dedicated camcorder or a regular smartphone camera with decent megapixels. Even though all these devices also possess sound recording capabilities they are typically not as good as the videography features of the device. This lack of dedicated audio recording gear has led to the birth of the rather amazing ZOOM H6 Handy Recorder.

ParkRoulette – calculate the chance of getting a parking ticket before you take the risk…or insure it

It’s amazing what you can do with technology if the right amount of data is available to you, and a couple of enterprising folk in San Francisco have gone and produced a rather delicious online service which proves the fact perfectly. If their idea starts a trend, we could see an interesting tussle begin between techies and the parking system in cities everywhere.

Friendly Dog Collars – let the world know about your pet’s character instantly

Dogs are definitely man’s best mate, but of course not all of our canine cousins are as friendly as they could be. In fact, it’s probably fair to say that our beloved pets come in a variety of different personalities, just like people do. Which makes it rather difficult when out and about to determine just how a particular pooch will behave as we approach them on the street.

Plantronics RIG Gaming Headset [Best of PAX: Review]

The Plantronics RIG is a gaming headset like no other I’ve seen, and at a relatively modest price point to boot. I got to go hands on (or “ears on”) wth the RIG at PAX, and I it was very impressive indeed. The sound quality rivaled the $250 Turtle Beach Z Seven in my opinion, and that’s a professional gaming headset in every way.
