3K RazorBook 400 Mini Notebook – small cosy subnote looks fancy, starts fast

3krazorbook400

The 3K RazorBook 400 Mini Notebook Computer looks like a real computer, but shrunk in the wash to a hand friendly size. Strange how they’ve polarised portable computing into massive juggernaut laptops at one end and teeny net friendly sub-portables at the other, eh?

Anyhoo, this one has all the usual…cough Asus EEE…cough features, like 7 inch TFT screen, 512 MB RAM, 4 GB solid state drive, Ethernet, WiFi and an internal dial up modem (wassat, chief?). It runs on the CE Linux system, so it’s got a fast boot in 15 seconds and it weighs just 2lbs. Nice and shoulder friendly. Complete with all the usual Linux desktop software stuff for a price of $299.00. Get ‘em while they’re hot.

The remarkably vivid 7″ display and full-size keyboard make surfing a pleasure, and the power efficient design and unparalleled shock protection of the solid state disk makes the RazorBook 400 one of the most travel-worthy notebooks ever made. With a rapid start-up time that takes only 15secs to boot, the 3K RazorBook 400 is always ready to get into action. No technical manual required with the specially designed, User-friendly and intuitive Full-Flash graphic interface. You’re always connected with built-in WiFi 802.11 b/g that automatically detects and connects to the Internet at any hotspot.

  • I want one!! Why is it that it’ll be 300 here? And why is it I don’t go the US anymore? Maybe I should get a proper job… hmmm OTOH.

    Anyway, I still want one

  • I’m still trying to figure out how these gadgets are going to shake out: Will a all flash notebook be the way to go or one with flash RAM and an actual HD device for storage?

I’d like to find an all Flash device because I have a friend who has high allergic reactions to off-gassing HD drives, but I’m not sure if an all Flash notebook will be sufficient.

  • @ Nigel, the article writer: CPU? Battery life, even claimed? Dimensions, for chrissakes?

@ Gadgets: Short answer: 4 GB is not enough if you want to store your entire movie or MP3 collection (4 GB is the capacity of a iPod nano). It is not enough if you want to install a full office suite. It is enough if you want to just surf, email and skype. It may be possible to replace the SSD yourself, though. People have done that with the Eee 4G.

And RAM is never flash, because flash is relatively slow and eventually wears out (little known fact.) RAM is RAM. Whole different thing.

And what the hell would an HD outgas? They are nearly airtight, to keep dust out.

  • @KoKo, sorry I tend not to include *all* the details on stuff like this, it’s all on the website (well apart from battery life). And I agree that these things are very much a niche product, but with a decent battery life it could turn out to be quite a large niche?

  • First things first:I start Razorbook 400 and Windows CE 5.0 starts and system start-up and then there is white background, mouse point works, keyboard works, but there is no desktop. How can I boot this Razorbook 400 for formating it?Thank you in advance
