Launchy is a super cool open source program which gives you total control over your computer applications. Once installed you summon it by hitting alt-space bar and then enter in the command you want. The prog then makes a guess at the function you want (it indexes your programs) and lets you run it with just a quick press of the Enter key.
It’s perfect if you have a load of programs installed on your PC and can never remember where they are located. Trust me, this is a thing of beauty. It automatically indexes the necessary programs on your disk, which makes getting up and running a breeze, but if you need extra power you can also install plugins (e.g. to do direct conversions or set up complex macro commands) which are fab. It’s also skinnable.
I’m thinking this is one of the coolest things I’ve seen in ages, and way better than the browser limited Ubiquity tool that the Mozilla folks released recently. I’m going to keep this installed no question, now the only thing I have to do is remember to use it. Very cool.
