Aftermarket mirror adds OnStar to any car

If you’ve ever wanted the comfort of OnStar service in your car, you know that you have to get a new GM vehicle, or at least one that was already equipped with it. There has been no way aftermarket solution for adding this to your car. At least not until now.

Soon the company will be launching a replacement rearview mirror that is equipped with that special blue button (and the other necessary buttons as well). This mirror can be installed in virtually any vehicle, regardless of make or model. Granted, you won’t get every single feature that OnStar usually provides, but you’ll get the basics like automatic crash response, turn-by-tun navigation and hands-free Bluetooth connectivity to your phone.

This handy add-on is going to set you back a pretty penny, unfortunately. It will only be available at Best Buy for around $300, plus the company’s installation fee of up to $100. You’ll also need to purchase an OnStar subscription for $19 a month or $200 a year.

  • A most interesting car mirror improvement. While a little spendy, certainly cheaper than buying a new car! Nice to see that the aftermarketeers have come up with a way to mimic OnStar car mirrors on the older vehicles. Good stuff. Thanks.
