There are certain designs which you take one look at and go…nope. The Sinclair C5 was of course the classic example, a product so hideous in form and function that only a near sighted son of an Albanian goat-herder could possibly love it. In a similar way, we believe that there are other products which could also be classed as ‘hmm…not that clever’.

The Breville VTT296 Radio Toaster is one such beastie. The idea of combining a jolly FM/AM radio in a conventional format 2 slice toaster may have seemed like a totally wizard idea in the marketing department’s lavatory meeting (“gosh Simkins, that’s a topping idea”), but seriously, who’s going to need their bread combuster chattering at them during the first chink of daylight hours?

And the idea of making it a portable device, so you can carry your toaster around with you from room to room is classic, really classic. £33.24 is a price well worth paying for such design genius in our opinion.

Now, not sure about you, but we’re absolutely certain that sleeping beneath 650 gallons of water every night is not going to encourage our nocturnal rest patterns. So what made the designers think that this Aquarium Bed would be such a great idea? Not to mention the fact that having all that water slooshing around when you’re asleep could play havoc with toilet habits. Anyhoo, if it’s your kind of thing, you’ll need around $11,500 (yes!) for one of your own.

Little Jimmy above is happy because his parents took the bold and generous step of turning his bedroom into a men’s restroom by installing a Peter Potty Flushing Toddler Urinal. That one thoughtful move was enough to affirm their deep and lasting love for their son and ensure that he would never again feel intimidated or ashamed when visiting toilets in strange places.
