Free MP3 Ringtone Maker produces surprisingly great results [Freeware]

There are lots of ringtone makers out there in the world, ranging from online versions to supposedly sophisticated commercial versions costing quite a bit of money. For the most part, though, these products and services deliver a pretty mediocre result, often with pretty dire audio resolution and not a lot of punch.

Free MP3 Ringtone Maker is a freeware program which does what it says on the tin, but actually manages to deliver a surprisingly good result. It’s easy to use, just open the program, load the MP3 track you want to use as the source, and then select a segment of the track using the waveform view.

There are useful options like Fade IN/OUT, as well as stereo and a very valuable function to increase the volume of the track by up to 150% (great for boosting audio on quiet samples). Creating a ringtone is really quick and you can instantly go back and re-edit if the result is not to your liking. We also like the fact that it produces nicely small files, which keeps the memory impact to a minimum.

We’re going to see if we can use it to produce some funny ringtones to add to our collection, now where’s that set of animal noises we archived earlier?
