Buried amongst all the headline hoop-la about Google’s self-driving cars, there’s a steady stream of interesting snippets from various car manufacturers who are clearly working towards some sort of radical future for the automobile. The era of the driverless car looks as though it’s going to be a part of our lives sometime soon, whether we like it or not.
The latest example is this very clever Hyundai Empty Convoy commercial, which shows off the use of camera and sensors to keep a convoy of cars driving happily along without the aid of any human agent at all. What’s more, the automatic braking system seems to work a treat, as they demonstrate at the end of the clip.

Mind you, we do wish they hadn’t dubbed in some tire squeals to make it sound more dramatic. Anyhoo, the whole thing is proving once again that there’s just about no sacred cow that technology won’t attack savagely given half a chance.
Excuse us for a second, we’re just going to take a quick peek out the window to see if our flying car has arrived yet.
