Herenow – leave messages for the next person to arrive at your location [Freeware]

Don’t know about you, but there’s been a fair few times when I’ve been to some place, a store or a service or something like that, and had a bad experience which I wish I could warn people about. Sure you can leave a review, but it’s a bit of a hassle. What you really need at times like that is a way to warn people who might be visiting that location. Now there’s an app which could help with that, but it’s got a catch.

Herenow is a free iPhone and Android app which lets you leave a ‘virtual’ message for people who may arrive at your location after you have left. The app uses WiFi data to lock the message to that place, and when it finds a new user has arrived there it automatically pushes the message to their phone.

It’s a really cool idea, but of course the real problem is you need a lot of users to get the momentum to make it really useful. We can see this being really useful to offer advice on the best dishes to order – and the ones to avoid – in a restaurant, or to warn later users about bad service or a rip off.

The idea that the message just sits there in the ether so to speak, waiting for others to come and get the benefit, is really cool. So load it onto your phone now and let’s get going with the crowdsourced help.

  • It’s not just an iPhone App as it is available for Android. So, stop focusing on the iPhone all the time and look at Android
