Type Drummer – create interesting drum patterns with your words

Well this is interesting. Hot on the heels of our report on the cool new Touch Pianist the other day, here we are again with another rather strange but fun musical tool for those of us with zero talent. This time, instead of classical compositions you’re going to make cool rhythm.

Type Drummer takes your typed in sentences and converts them to rather fascinating rhythm loops. Each letter is assigned to a particular sound sample, but it’s the combination of various letters in words that produces the interesting stuff.

Right now you get a choice of a fairly standard type drum set, or a rather more elaborate set of samples which go beyond simple percussion, but in both cases the results can be really quite cool. You can toggle between the two sets using the same words, which also makes for some fun. Hey, it beats playing Solitaire on your break.
