A unique, family-friendly bicycle yet to be

Kinn Cascade Bike 1

For many of us, spring is finally in full force, though there’s still plenty of snow to go around. If you’re an avid bicyclist, there’s a cool innovation that will make you eager to be outdoors with the wind in your face.

Kinn Cascade Bike 2

The Kinn Cascade Flyer is a new city-friendly and family-friendly bike that has some neat features to it. Designed by novice bike designer Alistair Williamson, this new bike may look and feel like a normal bike, but the frame is extended by 6 inches, the back wheel pulled back and it has an extra-long (21 inch) back rack above that back wheel. The extra length will accommodate a Yepp child seat, or sitting on the back rack’s smooth wooden plank seat (which will easily and quickly detach to accommodate the Yepp). There are short handlebars for the back rider and passenger foot rests.

Another amazing feature is the ability to turn the front wheel all the way inward. That makes it easy for positioning on bike racks, something I can appreciate after often struggling to get my own bike fitted into its car rack.

This nifty new bike isn’t inexpensive by any means. Made in Portland, Oregon, it currently sells for around $2,000 but Williamson has plans for a Kickstarter campaign to help finance a production run of the Flyers.
