Slowly over time all of our batteries are dying. It’s not just in your head that your smartphone doesn’t last as long on a single charge as it used to. Electric cars have the same problem. A new AI method has been developed that give a more accurate reading of battery health making it easier to develop better ones.
Figuring out how long your battery is going to last is one of the major problems that is plaguing the electronics industry and although your phone quitting on you faster than you like is annoying, your car doing the same could be deadly. This process uses machine learning to give an estimate that is ten times more accurate than the current processes.
This is great news for electric cars as it will allow developers to make better, more stable batteries. The model is noninvasive and can even be used with existing models of electronics and vehicles. It’s still in the development phase but may make a big difference in the future.
