Apple rejects Sony’s eReader app

If you currently own one of Sony’s eReaders and are thinking about making the switch to an iPad, you might want to think twice. The two devices are so vastly different that I wouldn’t try to directly compare them and tell you that you should get one over the other. However, I will tell you that you’re going to have some trouble getting your old books onto the iPad.

Apparently Sony submitted their Reader Store app to Apple’s App Store, and it was rejected. Now to be fair, it wasn’t rejected because Apple doesn’t like Sony, as they do have the Kindle app available. Rather, the problem seems to stem from the fact that the app would’ve used a different payment service than Apples’s in-app service. This is unfortunate, as because of Sony’s DRM, there aren’t many easy ways to read your eBooks on another device.
