It’s important to realise that deep inside every geeked out audio engineer there’s a heart yearning to level up to some custom form of ultra subtle chic that an outboard rack and cable ties will never satisfy. And this goes double when it comes to fashion. How to reconcile a comfortable, slick hoodie with doing your job and staying in touch with the sounds? Well now, thanks to engineer Nic Pope, there’s a way to combine virtual invisibility with style, and it’s totally geek.
Betabrand’s Audio Engineer’s Hoodie lets you wear your headphones over your hoodie and still hear everything you need to hear. Which of course would be impossible with a real hoodie. I mean, you could do it but you wouldn’t actually be able to hear much of anything. Not only will this garment fulfil your sartorial and audio needs, but it comes with some neat engineer tricks built in, including a special zipped pocket for your thumb drives, a drum key loop (gotta have that dude), internal headphone cable routing and some handy common wiring diagrams sewn into a pocket for quick reference. Awesome!
The sides of the hoodie are made out of speaker cloth, which is how the audio stuff works out, and it’s designed to be as invisible as possible, by being a ‘slightly darker black‘. Perfect for both stage and studio use. Currently available for preorder for $142 and expected to ship in October.
