It’s always hard to get started on a diet or weight loss plan. Even if you meet with a group, it’s difficult not to have someone there rooting you on everyday. You let yourself slip just that one time, and then you’re off the band wagon until you realize it’s close to summer again and you want to be able to wear a swimsuit without being embarrassed. An MIT alum named Cory Kidd knew of these kinds of problems, and created a robot named Autom as a solution.
Autom is a robotic weight loss coach that will help you track your calorie intake, amount of exercise, other related topics. Her head and eyes move, and she will provide you with encouragement and praise whenever you keep on track. She is really expensive, costing about $865, and a monthly subscription of $79.95. While I do believe that something like this is a good idea, I know that unless you personally want to lose the weight, you’re not going to. Even if you spent the almost $2000 on a year with Autom, there’s a chance you’ll come to hate the thing, and it will simply sit in a corner collecting dust.
