It’s coming up to prime BBQ season again, and once more people will be lugging their tatty old grills out of the garage and onto the deck, yard, plinth, or grass to fire up another crispy burnt piece of heaven.
Those with swanky expensive systems or the traditional charcoal burners will be unafraid of what’s to come, but for those using gas bottles, the big question will be the eternal one – did we use up all the gas last year? Now there’s a way to tell which is fool-proof and takes just seconds. The BBQ Gas Bottle Gauge is nothing more than a weighing scale which is marked off to correspond with the weight of a standard gas bottle at various capacities.
Hook up the scale, pull and instantly you’ll get a reading of the gas remaining, which will calm those palpitating hearts and deliver some peace along with the relish and ketchups. It’s designed for 8.5 – 9 kg bottles, and requires no batteries. Priced at $35.65 / £23.42.
A great idea. I had an inline gauge once that became an orphan when the fittings changed. When it became time to replace it, I realized that all of them are just approximate anyway, including the weight ones. More important, I realized a spare cylinder costs just $20. Thus, instead of buying a scale or gauge, I can buy a spare cylinder and a recharge. Much handier.
Extremely good point John. Mind you I’ve found that even with the best planning there will be times when your main one runs out and the spare is also neglectfully empty. So the ability to keep checking easily sounds useful. I spend a lot of my time lifting up and shaking gas cylinders. :)
Best Regards,
