BenQ ScreenBar – The Only Desk-Lamp You Need? [REVIEW]

If you’re a bit like me, you probably spend most of your time looking at a computer screen. As you might know, that’s pretty bad for your eyes, but there are solutions!

The main reason why your eyes get strained when watching a screen is because of all the blue light coming from the screen and because the screen is brighter than the environment. That last reason is mainly fixed with a desk light next to your screen. Most of the time, these desk lights produce warm, brown light and reflect all over the place. Not to forget they get very warm and can be bulky and energy consuming.

This is where the BenQ ScreenBar e-Reading LED Desk lamp comes in. It’s a lamp you attach on top of your monitor or laptop screen and plug into a USB-input on your pc. It works instantly and you can change brightness – or put it on automatic – and change colour temperature as well.

The ScreenBar is extremely easy to work with, but I think it’s mainly focussed on people who work in darker environments or later in the evening. If you think you never look at your screen late at night or when it gets darker, think again. I’m typing this thinking this lamp couldn’t be useful for me, but I’m in a very low lit room, my eyes are hurting because of the bright computer screen and I could really use a light like this… Oh, I have one… Aah that’s better!

You can find the ScreenBar here.
